Used BMW X1 cars for sale

This small family SUV offers great levels of luxury, interior tech and space.

The BMW X1 is a premium model in its class that's great to drive and feels like a hatchback at times – which is no bad thing.

It is available in both two- and four-wheel drive and there are a few different petrol and diesel engine options to choose from.

About BMW X1

The BMW X1 first arrived on the small SUV scene in 2009, and has gone on to become one of the most popular vehicles in its segment.

This premium SUV is perfect for those wanting a small yet practical and well-equipped family vehicle. The X1 saw its first major overhaul in 2015, in which it was given a sharper and more angular design that proved very popular among customers.

Since then, BMW has been tweaking and improving the X1 with interior upgrades and tech improvements.

The X1 is going up against cars such as the Volvo XC40, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3.

Is the BMW X1 reliable?

The BMW X1 shares its platform with the Mini Countryman and therefore maintains strong reliability.

In terms of safety, the X1 is incredibly safe and scored a five-star crash test rating when tested by Euro NCAP in 2015.

Standard safety kit includes front and rear parking sensors, park assist, and cruise control, which features BMW’s Active Guard braking function to ensure the vehicle avoids a collision as best as possible.

There is also an optional Driving Assistance Plus pack that offers lane departure warning and cruise control.

Every car we sell comes with a free 90-day warranty, which can be upgraded to cinchCare

What are the BMW X1 features?

The BMW X1 is packed full of industry-leading technology. Entry-level models get navigation as standard as well as an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay.

Cloth seats come as standard, but these can be upgraded to M Sport-style seats along with interior mood lighting and leather or wood options.

In terms of practicality and space, the X1 is phenomenal. It has the same footprint as the much-smaller 1 Series but due to being taller, it can fit more comfortably.

The boot is 505 litres in size, which can grow to 1,550 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

For passengers, there's a good amount of space, with loads of room in the back for taller occupants.

What's the BMW X1 like to drive?

The BMW X1 is well known for its excellent handling and solid engine options – this is one of the many reasons why it is so good as step up from the smaller 1 Series hatchback.

This premium SUV is powered by either a petrol, hybrid or diesel engine. The hybrid system produces 220hp and offers up to 32 miles of electric-only range.

The diesel engine on offer is a 2.0-litre unit that produces 190hp and is the better choice if you are going to do longer journeys. However, there is also a 1.5-litre of 2.0-litre petrol engine on offer that produces 136hp and 178hp respectively.

    Used BMW X1 Review

Some things are better second time around. Take the BMW X1. The original car was great, though far from being one of BMW's best efforts. The second generation has put right many of the first X1's wrongs. Available since 2015, the second X1 drives brilliantly and is more practical than its small size might lead you to expect.
