What is the BMW X1 M Sport?

A BMW X1 M Sport is a number of cars in one – first and foremost, it’s a small and practical SUV that’s just as comfortable around town as it is in a muddy field.

It’s also a great option for buyers looking to graduate from a hatchback into something a little bigger, and it’s a good option for families and solo drivers alike.

Finally, it has styling similar to a performance model without the high running costs, meaning it’s a great all-rounder.

What are the BMW X1 M Sport specs?

New third-generation U11 models come with a few new engine options, including the 170hp 20i petrol and the 218hp 23i petrol. There are also 150hp 18d and 211hp 23d diesels.

If cheap running costs sound up your street, then the 245hp 25e and the 326hp 30e plug-in hybrids should appeal, with electric-only ranges of around 50mpg and efficiency figures of 400mpg (if you can charge them regularly).

Older X1 M Sport models are also available with less powerful 18i engines, more powerful 20i engines, and a few other diesels. You can check the specs of any individual model on cinch to be sure you know what you’re getting.

Used BMW X1 M Sport features and equipment

Plenty of regular updates have kept the BMW X1 M sport looking and feeling fresh, but pinpointing exact features and equipment can be hard.

As a rule of thumb, the newest models will come with parking sensors, a reversing camera, cruise control and a powered boot lid.

Every X1 M Sport has also been available with a few optional extras, including keyless entry via a compatible smartphone, wireless phone charging and a heads-up display.

Where the X1 M Sport sits in the BMW range

M Sport models are the most plush X1s you can get, and they sit above Sport and xLine variants.

Previously, there were entry-level SE cars, too, but BMW no longer sells these.

The only X1 you can get that’s even more expensive than the M Sport is the performance variant – it’s called the M35i.
