We all like to keep good company. When you choose your next car, why not pick one of the UK's top sellers?

According to SMMT data, the cars on this list were the most popular newly-registered cars that topped the UK’s sales charts in 2023.

If you’re looking for a used car – whether it’s a supermini, crossover, SUV or electric family car – take a pick from these firm favourites.

Ford Puma – 49,591 sales

With more space and a higher driving position than its Puma predecessor and Ford’s now-discontinued supermini, the Puma’s a sensible used car choice for families and working professionals alike.

Nissan Qashqai – 43,321 sales

Coming in a strong second place is the Nissan Qashqai, which has been around since 2007 and has sold millions since.

Designed in Paddington, London and built in Sunderland, this well-sized family SUV is the ideal choice for new families and those who can benefit from its large 504-litre boot.

Vauxhall Corsa – 40,816 sales

Being a perfectly sized supermini, the Corsa offers city dwellers, small families and new drivers a compelling chance to get on the open road and enjoy driving.

Its efficient engines and solid tech make a used Corsa a bargain.

Kia Sportage – 36,135 sales

Not only does it offer great value for money, but you’re also getting a well-equipped SUV with up to 49mpg and a 540-litre boot for all your active kids’ stuff

Tesla Model Y – 35,899 sales

When you consider its long 310-mile range, huge amounts of tech and practicality, it’s hard to ignore.

Joining it on the SMMT’s list of best-selling EVs are the MG4, Audi Q4 e-tron, Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2, VW ID.3, Kia e-Niro, BMW i4, VW ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq iV

Hyundai Tucson – 34,469 sales

Nissan Juke – 31,745 sales
