About the Kia Sportage
For an on-trend SUV that’s full of tech, feels great to drive, and has a comfortable and spacious cabin, the Kia Sportage is a great option.
It’s the perfect mix of gorgeous design and hard-wearing durability, which will suit those with a busy family life. There are also a range of engine options.
You can choose from a front-wheel drive option or a proper SUV-feeling four-wheel drive, and there’s automatic and manual gearboxes too. There’s also an electric hybrid option on the market now, so you can enjoy a environmentally friendly Sportage model.
No matter the option you choose, the Sportage is still exciting to drive with a welcome touch of power, which upgrades this car from sensible and spacious to something you’ll be excited to get on the road in.
Is the Kia Sportage reliable?
The Kia Sportage has scored incredibly well in consumer surveys for reliability across the board. Incredibly, Kia offers a seven-year (or 100,000 mile) warranty on the Sportage – so even a used model is likely to be covered.
Safety comes first when family cars are involved, so it’ll be a relief to know that the Kia Sportage also gets a five-star rating from Euro NCAP.
There are extra features throughout the car that will really aid the safety of your driving, like parking sensors at the front and rear and a handy blind spot monitoring system.
We also love the added driver aids that come with some of our models, like the lane assist software for keeping you centred, plus cruise control to help you out on the long stretches.
What are the Kia Sportage features?
The Kia Sportage comes equipped with features that will make everyday life run smoother.
You’ll love the luxurious feel of the interior, with tech that includes a built-in navigation system, an upgraded speaker set-up, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in our top-of-the-line models.
You can also grab a panoramic sunroof in some of our Sportage models, plus heated front seats.
There’re also the practical touches like the chunky rear boot (usually around 439 litres, and 1428 litres if you drop the rear seats) and the added storage throughout the cabin.
Despite all of the tech and practical features, the Sportage still feels nimble on the roads – it’s the perfectly kitted out, practical SUV.
What is the Kia Sportage like to drive?
The Kia Sportage offers the type of drive quality you’d expect from a model at a much higher price point. The suspension is comfortable and smooths out bumps in the road, the steering is responsive and lets you take tight bends with ease, and there’s a variety of engines to choose from.
The range runs from 1.6 litres to 2.0 litres – with options in between – and each are impressive in their own way. Up there on the larger scale is the 2.0 litre Sportage GT-Line, which can hit 0-60mph in 9.2 seconds and reach top speeds of up to 125mph.
There are other models in the range that aren’t quite as nippy but still have a nice punch of power. We particularly enjoy the Sportage 1.6 CRDi ISG for something that has a good-size engine with just the right amount of power for a busy family, and this model is backed up with a lot of exciting tech, too.
