British automotive manufacturer MG has been around for more than 90 years but was bought by China’s largest carmaker, SAIC Motors in 2009.

History of MG

Morris Garages (MG) was founded by Cecil Kimber in the 1920s, starting life as a two-seat sports car company but soon moving onto make saloons, coupés and eventually SUVs. 

Now, MG is owned by SAIC Motors and operates very differently from its beginnings.  

It no longer makes sports cars and instead has focused its power on electric hatchbacks, estate cars and SUVs. There is, however, the MG Cyberster on the horizon – an all-electric drop-top sports car.
