In the case of the MG5, it’s also a bit of a trend-setter. It was the first mainstream electric estate to go on sale in the UK, defining a new category of EVs.
Even to this day, rivals are pretty thin on the ground unless you want to spend more than twice the list price of an MG5 on something like the BMW i5 Touring, Audi A6 Avant e-tron or Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo.
Popular MG5 trims
Besides being an affordable electric estate, the MG5 is also really good value for money. There aren’t many trim levels, because even entry-level cars get everything you’d ever need.
> MG5 SE - entry-level model gets a large 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams
> MG5 Trophy - this model has heated front seats, automatic climate control and a 360-degree parking camera
MG5 history
After redefining itself as a budget-friendly car brand in the mid and late 2010s, the 2020s saw MG turn to electric cars, and the MG5 is a winning model.

> Facelifted MG5 (2023) - the family estate got a new exterior design and tech improvements inside

Other standard kit includes keyless entry, adaptive cruise control and app connectivity for controlling things like the climate and charging.
We also like the variable regenerative braking modes and the fact that the MG5 has vehicle-to-load technology, so it can charge things as well as be charged. Handy.
