Being a luxury version of a Toyota, Lexus takes everything great about its parent company and makes it more luxurious. Through soft leather seats and smoother suspension, almost everything about a Lexus takes it up a notch, which is why they’re so desirable. 

The standout features from its range of models include the cabin quality, which can be likened to a BMW or Mercedes equivalent. On certain models including the top-spec ES, you can swap the traditional side mirrors for cameras, making them more streamlined and futuristic. 

While you gaze at the small screens showing what’s around you, you can enjoy the splendid seats that won't feel dissimilar to your favourite armchair. As standard, most models get eight-way electrically adjustable seats, while high-end models get 10-way. Not only does this mean you can find the position that works best for you, but there’s also loads of space for all heights, even in the smaller cars. 

Reliability is Lexus’s strong point, and you’d be hard-pressed to find one that doesn’t live up to its potential. This is thanks to the genius engineering that’s trickled down from Toyota through its fuel-efficient engines, body parts and tech.  

The same goes for safety too, with all its latest cars scoring a full five stars following their most recent Euro NCAP safety test scores. This is thanks to standard safety features such as ISOFIX child seat points and airbags. Opt for a car fitted with the Safety System + package and you’ll benefit from a pre-collision system that includes pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control and lane-departure alert to name just a few. 

Being so closely related to Toyota, running costs are impressive. Most modern Lexus cars are hybrids, which makes them more fuel-efficient and therefore better for the environment. There are even all-electric models such as the RZ and UX 300e for guilt-free motoring, but no matter which you choose, you’re getting a car that’s affordable to run. 

A used Lexus is best suited to someone who wants a reliable, luxurious car to get them from A to B. They’re not particularly fast (unless you go for an F Sport model), they’re not all that expensive compared to German rivals, and they’re incredibly economical.
