Start nowThe Lexus UX (2019-present) is the brand’s subcompact luxury crossover that’s received a few tweaks to improve it since its initial launch.

It’s got some tough competition, but thanks to Toyota’s dependability and Lexus’ luxury, it stands up well against them.
Popular Lexus UX trims
A used Lexus UX is available in a few different specs, meaning there’s plenty of options to suit your needs. Here are the most popular trims:
> Lexus UX Urban – the base model with 17-inch alloy wheels, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight-inch touchscreen and swish fabric seats – very well optioned for an entry car
> Lexus UX Premium – adds black alloy wheels as well as front and rear parking sensors
> Lexus UX F-Sport Design – sporty design with larger 18-inch wheels, heated ‘Tahara’ leather seats and selectable drive modes
Lexus UX history
The Lexus UX is a relatively new edition to the brand’s lineup, offering a compact SUV style to help compete with rivals.
> First-generation Lexus UX (2019-present) - sharing its platform with the Toyota Corolla, the UX is a subcompact crossover SUV ready to storm the market
Being Toyota’s luxury brand, the UX is packed with high-end tech and features to make your journey more enjoyable.
There are a few different models, from the UX 250h and UX 250h AWD to the top-spec UX 300e.
The base model gets dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control and plenty of safety features.
Move up to higher-spec models and you get heated leather seats, front and rear parking sensors and a digital driver’s display that replaces its analogue dials.
Go for the top-of-the-range Takumi trim and you can enjoy electronically adjustable and ventilated front seats while blasting Cardi B on your crisp Mark Levinson sound system.
Lexus, like Toyota, takes pride in offering strong reliability across the board – this Japanese car brand ensures solid engines, strong build quality and a long warranty.
Speaking of which, all new Lexus models leave the factory with a three-year/60,000-mile warranty.
Once this has expired, you can receive an additional 12-month/10,000-mile warranty every time you service your car with Lexus, until your car is 10 years old or has driven 100,000 miles – whichever comes first.
Following its most recent Euro NCAP crash test, the Lexus UX scored a full five-star rating while offering very high protection for adult and child occupants.
Safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), rear ISOFIX child seat mounts and an array of airbags.
The Lexus UX is available as either a hybrid or electric car.
The former comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine that’s combined with an electric motor, producing 184hp, and offers up to 53.2mpg.
The latter is the best option if you live in a city or are ready to make the switch to an electric vehicle (EV).
This UX 300e model consists of a 54kWh or 72kWh battery and an electric motor that offers plenty of power and a claimed range of around 190 or 280 miles, respectively.
Insurance tends to be a huge cost when owning a car, but the UX is reasonable.
It sits between insurance groups 22 and 26, depending on the model trim.
Overall, maintenance is quite low – especially for the electric model because there are fewer moving parts and therefore less that can go wrong.
Both models offer splendid all-around reliability, however.
A used Lexus UX is one of those cars that can suit almost anyone.
It’s not so small that it’s no good for families, and it isn’t too large that it doesn’t make sense for a couple to own one.
It’s like the baby bear’s porridge that Goldilocks tasted – it’s just right.
Rivals include the MINI Countryman, Mercedes GLB and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
The cost to buy a used Lexus UX on finance will depend on the specific model variant you pick, as prices will always vary across the range.
Our UX models are available on finance deals, giving you the option to spread the cost.
If you buy a brand-new UX, you can expect to pay from £34,770, but if you find one on the used car market, they are considerably cheaper at around £25,000.
The UX hybrid uses a self-charging system that feeds charge into the battery upon braking. This offers up to a speed of 70mph using electricity alone.
The Lexus UX measures 4,495mm in length, which is a tad more than the BMW X1.
All Lexus UX models are built at the Toyota factory in Fukuoka, Japan.
