What types of used Lexus CT cars are there?

A used Lexus CT (also known as the CT200h) is one of those excellent cars that snuck under the radar when it came out and is only now being discovered after it’s been discontinued.  

This hybrid family hatchback offers high levels of quality and low running costs at a very affordable price point, making it one of the best in its segment.

All cars are powered by the same 1.8-litre petrol engine mated to a hybrid motor, and it shares many of its hybrid components with the very popular Toyota Prius.

A used Lexus CT is available in a few different trim levels which offer different features depending on what you’re after. 

> Lexus CT Advance – gets a lot of tech such as cruise control, heated mirrors, sat-nav and sometimes heated leather seats 

> Lexus CT Luxury – this is as fancy as it gets with leather seats, an electric sunroof and sometimes a DVD player. Yes, you read that right. 

> Lexus CT F Sport – it's a performance model with a sporty body kit and larger 17-inch alloy wheels 

Lexus CT history 

The Lexus CT had a decent 12-year lifespan from 2010 to 2022, and in that time, it had a couple of facelifts. 

> First-generation Lexus CT (2010-2013) - a small hybrid hatchback based on the Toyota Prius 

> Updated Lexus CT (2014-2017) - a brief styling refresh adding the Lexus ‘spindle’ grille 

> Facelifted Lexus CT (2018-2022) - this adds LED headlights and a larger grille 

What features does the Lexus CT have?

Inside, the CT offers a very luxurious and well-built interior that is jam-packed full of technology.  

Standard kit across the range includes Bluetooth, automatic wipers, adaptive cruise control, a collision-avoidance system, lane keep assist and automatic high beam headlights.   

A used CT200h also boasts a large boot that has 375 litres worth of space, which expands to 985 litres when the rear seats are folded flat.  

Underneath, the hybrid battery system is nicely hidden away and out of sight. 

Is the Lexus CT reliable?

A used Lexus CT for sale has a strong reputation for reliability.  

This is because they suffer from very few issues and are built to last. Thanks to Lexus' partnership with Toyota, the overall dependability of the CT is only stronger. 

The CT hasn't been independently safety tested by Euro NCAP since 2011 but scored a full five stars back then.  

This is thanks to a wide range of safety features that ensure the protection of both adult and child occupants. 

How much does the Lexus CT cost to run?

All CT models come with the same 1.8-litre engine mated to a hybrid system with a CVT automatic gearbox.  

Thanks to this system, the CT is a very economical car and Lexus claims it will return up to 42mpg.  

Around town and on longer journeys, the CT handles very well and will deal with anything you throw its way. 

 All models are more at home on shorter drives because the hybrid system is so good around town, but this doesn’t mean it isn’t capable of doing longer trips. 

Who is the Lexus CT suitable for?

You should buy a used Lexus CT if you're bored of the VW Golf norm and want something a bit unusual with great hybrid technology and top-end fuel efficiency from a luxury car brand. 

Its main rivals are other premium hybrids such as the Volkswagen Golf GTE and petrol alternatives such as the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series.
