If you’re looking for cars like the Range Rover Evoque, you’ve come to the right place.

Shopping for your next SUV can be tricky with all the great options out there. And when it comes to more premium offerings, it’s hard to look past Range Rover.

But believe it or not, there are lots of impressive cars similar to the Range Rover Evoque – here are some of our favourites.

Our top eight cars similar to the Range Rover Evoque

Like the Evoque but want to see what else is out there? Here are some cars like a Range Rover Evoque:

  • Porsche Macan

  • Audi Q3

  • BMW X5

  • Range Rover Velar

  • Alfa Romeo Junior

  • Volvo XC40

  • CUPRA Formentor

  • Kia EV6

Porsche Macan

Porsche Macan frontThe closest and probably the most compelling Range Rover Evoque alternative is the Porsche Macan.

Porsche’s baby SUV has a lot going for it, and not only does it look superb, but it drives beautifully too. Like if Porsche made a hatchback and then gave it a raised driving position.

There are a lot of different trims to compare, from the base model (simply named ‘Macan’) to the Turbo S, but we’d always recommend delving into the specs and seeing which features and engines suit you the best.

Plus, there’s an electric Macan out now, so this may be right up your street if the Kia EV6 we mentioned isn’t up to your luxury standards.

Audi Q3

Audi Q3 frontNot only is the Audi Q3 one of the more Evoque-shaped cars on this list, but it’s also a fine example of a small SUV.

Its interior is sporty yet full of tech, including features such as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a digital ‘cockpit’ (instrument cluster) and comfortable seats.

You can buy a Q3 with a petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid TFSIe engine, or step up to the sportier RS Q3 model with up to 400hp.

BMW X4

A red BMW X4 driving on a trackThe BMW X4 is a stylish luxury SUV that manages to be both sporty and comfortable.

Its coupe-like design stands out in a crowded segment, while turbocharged engine options deliver strong, responsive power.

It also handles like a proper BMW, thanks to its sporty suspension and xDrive all-wheel drive capabilities.

Inside, it’s very similar to almost any other BMW, with lots of tech and the occasional ‘M’ badge (on higher trims) to show people how cool your car really is.

Range Rover Velar

Inside, the Velar offers a high-tech, premium cabin with dual touchscreens, quality materials and a quiet, composed ride. It is a Range Rover after all.

Available with a range of powerful engines, it balances smooth on-road performance with genuine off-road capability. And like the Evoque, it caters to the same sort of buyer: a sophisticated type.

Other than the styling, the main difference between the Evoque and the Velar is that the latter is a little bigger (but still plenty smaller than the Range Rover).

Alfa Romeo Junior

Red Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce driving on a race trackThe Alfa Romeo Junior is a bit more of an unconventional choice, but also one of our favourite small SUVs, so we had to include it.

Built on a nimble platform, the Junior delivers sharp handling and an engaging drive, true to Alfa Romeo’s sporty heritage. And it’s available as a hybrid or fully electric version – both of which have impressive performance and efficiency.

Inside, it features a driver-focused cockpit with intuitive tech and premium materials. Outside, well, it’s an Alfa, so of course it looks the part.

Volvo XC40

One look in the cabin and you straight away know what Volvo is all about – keeping things simple without scrimping on the details.

Yes, you still get a touchscreen, lots of functionality and premium materials, but with a much cleaner look.

They’re great to drive too, with a great range of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid models, plus the all-electric EX40 with up to 334 miles of range.

CUPRA Formentor

Dark grey Cupra Formentor drivingIf you’ve ever driven or been in a VW Golf, SEAT Leon or Audi A3, a CUPRA Formentor might feel familiar. It sits on the same platform as all of these hatchbacks, just higher up.

Also like those models, it gets a solid range of engine options, including petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with the latter getting up to 31 miles of electric-only range.

Inside, it’s the usual CUPRA affair with Volkswagen-like systems with a sporty and usually bronze-coloured edge.

The Formentor is a fun alternative to the Evoque, plus it’s packed with Spanish flair and is great value.

Kia EV6

Kia EV6 drivingThere isn’t a fully electric Evoque yet, but we thought we’d show you what other brands are up to in the battery-powered small SUV space, and the Kia EV6 is a great place to start.

With 361 miles of range and unreal tech – from clever driver assistance features up to a fingerprint scanner to start the car – it’s hard to ignore. It looks like something from the future too.

Because of its electric motors and instant torque, it may be a similar shape to the Evoque in the way it looks, but it’s like a missile on the road.
