History of Land Rover

The Land Rover name was launched in 1948 by the Rover Company, which wanted to expand into the world of utilitarian 4WD off-road vehicles. 

Since then, we’ve seen countless iterations of these capable cars across the years, including the creation of the Defender – one of the most recognisable cars ever made. 

As of 2023, the company made a huge change in the form of what it calls its ‘Reimagine' strategy. This saw Jaguar Land Rover being officially renamed JLR and the firm moving towards four brands instead of two.  

Range Rover, Defender, Discovery and Jaguar will be at the forefront, with Land Rover becoming a 'heritage mark' saved for its off-road vehicles.

Running costs won’t be the lowest as all models are considered luxury cars, but you get what you pay for, and it’s worth it for the quality of car you’re getting.
