Land Rover
Discovery Sport
The Land Rover Discovery Sport was first launched in 2015 to sit between the larger Discovery and smaller Evoque crossover SUV.
Think of it as an SUV that offers the great engine options and occasional off-road capabilities of larger cars, but with the luxury of a Range Rover inside. It's essentially the sweet spot between the two, and is perfect for a stylish but functional car.
It's seen many facelifts over the years, all being minor but very important. Some of the biggest changes have included an interior overhaul to fit with the rest of the model range, and the addition of mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines.
The Discovery Sport’s main rivals are the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Jaguar F-Pace, and Volvo XC60. The Discovery Sport often has the edge, with the brand’s reliable and high-quality reputation being too tempting to turn down.
Inside, the Discovery Sport showcases high levels of luxury and rugged functionality.
Over the years, the Discovery Sport has seen many different iterations with lots of changes happening inside, but even older models still have a decent display and technology.
More recent models come as standard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with the option to have a high-quality 12.3-inch driver’s display that replaces the car’s traditional dials.
This new touchscreen comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, which is even integrated into the vehicle’s driver’s display so you can view your maps and music right in front of you.
The higher-spec R-Dynamic HSE trim level comes with added Matrix LED headlights, keyless entry, and a premium sound system.
As with any Land Rover product, the Discovery Sport comes fitted with some excellent optional technology options including the brand’s Clear Sight Ground View technology, which allows you to see exactly where your vehicle is thanks to a plethora of cameras dotted around the car.
Newer Discovery Sport models are available with the choice of different engines, including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options.
The petrol engine options come with either 200hp, 250hp or 290hp, depending on which you'd prefer. However, these options are quite thirsty, so if you’re after maximum fuel efficiency then perhaps a diesel or plug-in hybrid variant is for you.
The 2.0-litre diesel engines produce either 163hp or 204hp and will offer you in the region of 40mpg, and would be the better option if you like to tow.
Sitting at the top of the range is the 309hp 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engine, which is the best choice if you need to drive into a town or city often and like the idea of using electricity instead of petrol for about 43 miles.
The cost of a used Land Rover Discovery Sport on finance will depend on the model you choose and the type of finance deal you go for.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is considered to be a really reliable car, benefitting from Land Rover's attempts to really up its reliability reputation in recent years.
The Discovery Sport has a maximum towing capacity of 2,200kg depending on the engine and overall spec, but lesser models can tow between 1,800kg and 2,000kg.
Yes, we think a used Discovery Sport is a great car and perfect for those needing lots of boot space, interior luxury, a very good four-wheel drive system and plenty of passenger space and comfort.
Absolutely! The Discovery Sport hits the sweet spot between being a large SUV and a small crossover, and we think it’s the one to have – purely based on how good it is as an all-round family car.
