The Ford Puma is essentially a Fiesta on stilts, and that's no bad thing.

In fact, it means the Puma offers the same driving engaging experience and benefits that the hatchback offers, but in a slightly larger crossover SUV package.   

The Puma name isn’t new either, because it was first used in the late '90s and sat proudly on Ford’s fun little coupé, which was also based on the Fiesta of its era. Admittedly, today’s Puma is much larger and offers different things, but it's still fun to drive as crossovers go – especially in ST form.

Puma was initially the name given to a small coupé sold between 1997 and 2001, but the name was revived for this stylish crossover model in 2019.

What features does the Ford Puma have?

A quick look at a Ford Puma for sale will reveal a nearly identical interior to the favourite Ford Fiesta, both showing off a modern look.   

The entry-level Titanium model trim comes well equipped with Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system, an eight-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a DAB radio, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.   

ST-Line models get all this plus a large 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, exterior body kit, sports suspension and a leather steering wheel.

Range-topping Vignale models get everything you’d expect to find in a modern car, and that includes a heated steering wheel and seats, front parking sensors and keyless entry.   

The Puma’s boot measures in at 456 litres, which is decent for its class, but where it really shines is underneath.

This is because Ford has been rather clever and fitted a 68-litre underfloor storage area where you can store muddy boots or fill with ice to act as a cool box.

Don’t worry about any water, though – Ford has thought of this and fitted a drainage plug.
