What types of used Audi TT cars are there?

A used Audi TT is the obvious sports car option for so many people – it stands out.   

On the used market, the TT is very competitively priced, which also makes it one of the most attractive options out there for first-time sports car buyers and car enthusiasts alike.  

The TT’s main rivals are the BMW M2, Porsche Cayman, Jaguar F-Type and Mazda MX-5. All of these are excellent in their own right, but when it comes to tight British roads and living with one on a daily basis, very few beat the TT.

Audi TT history 

Three versions of the Audi TT have been sold since 1998, before Audi confirmed that it would end production of its smallest coupé in 2023.

> Facelifted Audi TT third-generation (2019) - Minor revisions including engine improvements and changes to kit levels

There are two versions of the Audi TT, and while they look similar, there’s a key difference in how practical they are.  

> Audi TT Coupé - Hard-top model with a pair of rear seats for occasional use and children 

> Audi TT Roadster - Convertible soft-top model with only two front seats 

What features does the Audi TT have?

Inside is where a used Audi TT really shines, because it's got one of the best interiors in its class. Everything is well-put-together and well-placed throughout the cabin.  

As with all other Audi models, there are so many different options available, but no matter which trim level you opt for, you won’t be disappointed.   

Kit options include heated leather seats, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, a multifunction steering wheel, a 12.3-inch virtual driver’s cockpit as standard, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. 

Now, as for storage space, you’d expect there to be next to none with this being a sports car – but in actual fact, there's plenty.

The boot of the TT measures 305 litres, which isn’t much smaller than that of the VW Golf. 

Is the Audi TT reliable?

A used Audi TT shouldn’t give you issues with reliability because the German brand is synonymous with building long-lasting products. 

Thanks to its sublime build quality and a great selection of strong and reliable engines, there's no reason why you should have any doubts about your TT.  

How much does the Audi TT cost to run?

Don’t be fooled by the sports car looks because the 2.0-litre petrol engine in many Audi TTs should be able to get up to around 40mpg, while diesel variants are even more efficient. 

Naturally, performance TTS and TT RS models will cost more to run, including in insurance and maintenance, but the regular TT is unlikely to cost much more to run than your typical family hatchback. 

Who is the Audi TT suitable for?

A used Audi TT is a very good car to drive – it offers excellent performance while still giving you the confidence to push the car harder thanks to its quattro all-wheel-drive system and trusty gearbox. 

It’s a great pick for anyone after a stylish set of wheels, and it’s surprisingly practical for a small coupé.
