The best four-door coupés are actually pretty hard to come by. A coupé is typically identifiable by its two-door body style and sloping roof, so the four-door styling is unique.
Four-door coupés give you a bit more space and easier access than the traditional shape, so they’re ideal if you’ve got children to put in the back seats.
They also have the sleek look of a traditional coupé, and most of them come with performance-focused energy.
Take a look at some of the best four-door coupés in our guide below.
What are the best four-door coupés?

The best four-door coupé cars
BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé
The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé is a seriously suave car. The long, curvy shape will have you blushing and it would definitely buy you a drink from across the bar.
It’s arguably one of the best BMWs to drive. The M850i with the V8 petrol and xDrive all-wheel drive system is the one that most people will get excited about, with a hefty 530hp.
The 840i six-cylinder petrol is also a lot of fun, with 245hp and 500Nm of torque.
Mercedes CLA
The Mercedes CLA is a four-door coupé that is best-suited for occasional rear passengers or short ones – headroom is slightly scarce.
We think that’s a fair trade off for the gorgeous silhouette it offers, and the interior is seriously plush as well. Even entry-level models get a seven-inch infotainment screen, cruise control and dual-zone climate control.
You could also choose an AMG model if you want to boost the performance, adding a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that’s a lot of fun to drive.
BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé
What’s the point of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé? We’ve got the classic 4 Series – a classic two-door coupé – so the Gran Coupé is essentially scaled up to have four doors.
You’ll probably prefer this version if you want more accessibility at the rear, and the quality feels ramped up as well.
The 12.0-inch digital instrument display and 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen look flashy on the dash, and you still get to enjoy the classic BMW iDrive controller.
There are three petrol engines to choose from and a single diesel, and we’d suggest the M440i variant for the most fun or the 420d for efficiency.
Audi A7 Sportback
The Audi A7 Sportback is one long car. That’s not a bad thing though, as it’s got an elegant vibe to it with that classic Audi styling.
All that length at the back makes for a 535-litre boot, and the cabin is spacious as well. This is a good one if you want genuine space for rear-seat passengers, as there’s plenty of legroom.
We’re recommending the 2.0-litre 45 TDI with 200hp and 400Nm of torque. The A7 Sportback is a big car, and this heftier diesel makes light work of moving it along smoothly.
Kia Stinger
What do you know about the Kia Stinger? If you’re like the rest of the UK, probably not much. This secret stunner does suave four-door coupé styling with a fast, sharp edge.
Sam Sheehan, our motoring editor, said: “You’ll want to keep this quiet as it’s one of the best-kept secrets out there: the Kia Stinger is better than many of the high-end cars it competes with.
“Kia has made a saloon that is faster, sharper, more entertaining and more cost-effective to run than the cars well-established manufacturers have been able to create.”
Porsche Panamera )
The Porsche Panamera is one of the best four-door coupés for a proper luxury feel, combining classic Porsche charm with a modern feel.
The interior is very cockpit-esque. There’s a 12.3inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.6-inch instrument screen, plus an extra illuminating panel for functions like climate control.
All this feels very flash, but the drive is what will really sell it. The Turbo S E-Hybrid is ideal for justifying it as a sensible choice, as you’ll get up to 57 miles of electric-only driving. Oh, and 771hp...
Hyundai i30 Fastback
The Hyundai i30 Fastback is a practical four-door coupé that offers efficiency, comfort and technology.
The latest models get a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, plus the option for smartphone connectivity.
It’s an easy and refined drive, with a 48V mild-hybrid system on a 1.5-litre four-cycling turbocharged petrol engine that keeps fuel efficiency around 47mpg.
Hyundai also offers a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty – so you can tell it’s got faith in the quality.
