Kia Stinger buying guide

About the Kia Stinger

The Stinger is to Kia what the 3 Series is to BMW. It’s the brand’s performance sports saloon that's a bit of a hidden gem among the motoring community. We say this because it isn’t the obvious choice, and we love an underdog.

What makes it so appealing is that it's fast, sharp, and entertaining to drive on Britain’s roads – and it’s very efficient. It’s certainly made BMW and Mercedes quiver, that’s for sure.

The Stinger is ideal for anyone wanting a practical saloon car that's also more than capable at threading its way down a tight and twisty country road. And unlike many other quick saloons, you know you can trust the Stinger’s reliability because of Kia’s impressive seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.

What features does the Kia Stinger have?

Kia’s Stinger comes in four different trims: GT-Line; GT; GT1; and GT2. The entry-level GT-Line comes as standard with a large touchscreen display that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with wireless phone charging.

Move up to the top-spec GT2 and you’ll be greeted by a better Harman/Kardon sound system, a head-up display, and a really clever shift-by-wire gear shifter that means the car changes gear via electronic signals.

The Stinger’s interior is really solid and packed full of high-end leather and metals. Comfort is good too, but taller passengers may find the rear seats a little tight because of the sloped roofline. Shorter journeys shouldn’t be a problem, however.

What is the Kia Stinger like to drive?

When you get behind the wheel, the helmsman drivers among us will be pleasantly surprised by what they find.

The Stinger’s strong engines and sharp handling make for a stunning drive, and it’s equipped with a combo that will make the car enthusiast weak at the knees – rear-wheel drive and a limited-slip differential.

After all, it is Kia’s answer to the 3 Series, C-Class and A4, and Jaguar XE. While it prioritises performance, the Stinger certainly doesn’t compromise on comfort – its smooth ride and supple suspension are a godsend on our rough and bumpy roads.

Should I buy a used Kia Stinger?

Can I buy a used Kia Stinger on finance?

Yes, you can get a used Kia Stinger on finance. The costs will depend on the model you choose and the type of finance you go for, but there are some brilliant deals across the used market.

Is the Kia Stinger a reliable car?

Being a Kia, we have few doubts that it will ever let you down thanks to its superb build quality and Kia’s impressive seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.

When did the Kia Stinger come out?

The Stinger was launched in 2017 and had a good run until it was discontinued in late 2022.

How much horsepower does the Kia Stinger have?

The Stinger produces 335hp from its largest 3.0-litre V6 engine option.
