About the Suzuki Swift

The Suzuki Swift arrived in the UK back in 2010, offering a funkier and more interesting way to own a fun hatchback. It was so different from the Fiesta we had all come to love, and it has gained somewhat of a cult following ever since.   

Its perky little engine and character made it a perfect car for the UK's tight back roads as well as its longer and wider motorways. The Swift is the perfect car for someone wanting faff-free motoring in a small package that's also fun to drive.

Since its launch more than a decade ago, the Swift has come on leaps and bounds and has been refined to suit even more people. The latest shape arrived in 2017 as a five-door-only model that offers updated tech and safety features.

What features does the Suzuki Swift have?

Inside, the Suzuki Swift models vary quite a lot depending on what you’re after.  

The entry-level model offers an old-school LCD head unit with DAB and Bluetooth connectivity, adaptive cruise control and air-con – perfect for those wanting simplicity.  

Mid- and top-spec models feature a more impressive touchscreen infotainment system that brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the party.   

They also feature rear-parking sensors, sat-nav, keyless entry, climate control, electric rear windows, and power folding mirrors.  

The entire cabin feels very well put-together and durable. The interior also offers great head and shoulder room, making it easier when all seats are filled.

What's the Suzuki Swift like to drive?

You can get a used Suzuki Swift with a choice of a few engines, starting with a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine that produces 111hp. This is a good option for increasing your fuel efficiency while getting some extra power.  

Next up is a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine that's good for 82hp.  Fuel efficiency is the main focus with this one, so it’s perfect for cutting back on running costs.  

Sitting at the top of the range is the sporty 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that produces 127hp and has a 0-62mph time of 9.1 seconds and a top speed of 130mph. Choose this one if you want to feel some real push behind your Swift.  

These engine options might not sound like the most powerful units in the world, but they certainly feel strong enough since the Swift weighs less than 1,000kg, which is very light these days.  

The Swift handles well too, especially in its Sport trim, and offers great driving dynamics at an affordable price.
