Start nowUsed Porsche cars are some of the best vehicles in the world, and the company is one of the leading car manufacturers when it comes to performance and bang for your buck.
They’re incredibly well-built and offer excellent value for money, and the engineers managed to defy physics by creating a rear-engined sports car.
Porsche was first started by Ferdinand Porsche in the 1930s and produced the 356 sports car under the supervision of the founder’s son, Ferry Porsche.
In 2009, Porsche entered an agreement to become part of the Volkswagen Group, which already included Audi and Lamborghini.
Now, it still remains its own brand, but with the help and support from the Volkswagen Group. It’s the best of both worlds for the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer.
Some of the best features that used Porsche cars offer include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, various selectable drive modes, lane keep assist, lane change assist, a large panoramic sunroof and an upgraded Bose or Burmester sound system.
If you want a more sports car-feel then you can also have a Sport Chrono clock, larger and more powerful carbon ceramic brakes, adaptive sports seats and a manual gearbox on some models.
This makes the driving experience more engaging, but both the manual and PDK automatic ‘boxes work perfectly with the engines on offer.
Being German – and more importantly, being a used Porsche car for sale – these cars are incredibly reliable and fantastic to drive. They use tried-and-tested parts across the board and include engines that have been developed over many years to help perfect the formula.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a better all-round driving experience while Porsches exist. They’re truly outstanding.
The same goes for safety, which is very respectable. Its most recent Euro NCAP safety test results show a full five stars for the models rated, indicating the brand’s incredible attention to detail.
This is thanks to safety features such as anti-lock braking, stability control, airbags, ISOFIX child seat points and adaptive cruise control.
With these being luxury sports cars, running costs aren’t going to be as affordable as they would be with a Ford Focus or VW Golf, but they aren’t as horrendous as some. In fact, used Porsches are generally very fuel-efficient, which makes them excellent driving companions on longer road trips across the UK or into Europe.
There are so many used Porsche cars for sale that it can be hard to decide which is best for you. The most popular models are the Cayman, Boxster and 911 sports cars, which offer a near-unrivalled driving experience.
If you want something better suited to families, perhaps one of Porsche’s SUVs, such as the Macan or Cayenne, is best for you.
If electric driving is up your street, there’s a wide range of Taycans to choose from, including rear-wheel-drive, estate and saloon variants.
There are also Porsche saloon, Porsche coupe and Porsche estate options to choose from.
Porsche is owned by the Volkswagen Audi Group but the controlling stake is owned by Porsche itself. This means it benefits from added financial backing while still being able to make its own decisions.
The costs vary, ranging from as little as £2,000 all the way into the millions for the really special stuff. The average everyday model will set you back in the region of £50,000.
All Porsches are built in Germany between its factories in Stuttgart and Leipzig.
The proper German way is to say “Paw-shuh” instead of “Paw-sh”.
The fastest Porsche in the world is the Porsche 918 Spyder, which produces 887hp from its 4.6-litre V8 engine and two electric motors.
