Nissan electric car performance is best considered as brisk, rather than blistering. The instant throttle response makes them feel spritely around town, and most models are quick enough to keep up with some hot hatches.

There is, however, a NISMO version of the Ariya with a whopping 435hp, good for 0-62mph in five seconds, which is quicker than the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX.

Running any electric car can be very affordable, but used Nissan electric cars stand out for their excellent efficiency. The 62kWh battery in the LEAF e+ can do a claimed 239 miles – a full charge of that battery might cost as little as £4.40 on an off-peak tariff (7p/kWh).

The Ariya’s biggest battery is the 87kWh pack, but even that only costs around £6.10 to brim if you have cheap rates.

Don’t forget that electric motors feature fewer moving parts than combustion engines, so they can be both more reliable and cheaper to maintain.

Nissan electric car technology

Nissan electric cars for sale are known for their technology, and the e-Pedal system might be the most prominent. It pioneered one-pedal driving with a button that would ramp up the regenerative braking so that it can bring you to a total stop, reducing the wear on the brake pads.

Another standout bit of Nissan tech is ProPILOT Assist, which offers semi-autonomous driving features like a steering aid and adaptive cruise control.
