What types of used Mercedes-Benz GLC cars are there?

The Mercedes-Benz GLC launched in 2016 and kicked off the coupé SUV trend. It arrived with a design usually seen on smaller cars and intrigued the eyes – and wallets – of the brand’s customers. 

A used GLC is available with a wide range of engines, from the smallest 2.0-litre turbocharged hybrid unit that produces a combined 316hp to the largest GLC 63 model, which is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine.  

Mercedes aims the GLC at both families and couples because of its practicality and luxurious interior. It almost makes you wonder why a bigger SUV is needed at all – especially if you don’t need all the extra space.

What features does the Mercedes-Benz GLC have?

The Mercedes GLC’s main party piece is its interior, and it isn’t hard to see why. Like all modern Mercedes models, the GLC features an incredibly luxurious cabin that wouldn't look out of place in a car twice the price.   

Standard used GLC models come with all the usual bells and whistles you’d expect from a car of its class, including a fantastic infotainment system that's standard across the range.  

Optional extras include a Burmester sound system, a larger touchscreen and sat-nav – among many others. Models produced from 2019 onwards also feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.   

As for size, the GLC offers almost identical interior space to its BMW X3 rival, giving rear-seat passengers plenty of room. The boot measures in at an impressive 500 litres, which grows to 1,600 litres with the rear seats down.

How much does the Mercedes-Benz GLC cost to run?

Mercedes’ engine range can be confusing because there are lots of different numbers and letters, so we will try and make it a little more faff-free.   

The GLC 250 – which is the entry-level petrol engine – has plenty of power for those just wanting to go around town, but if you want to do longer journeys on a more regular basis, we’d suggest the larger GLC 300d diesel engine.  

The GLC is also available with a 2.0-litre hybrid engine that produces between 306hp and 319hp depending on the spec. This is a great option for those who drive in and around cities often because the fully electric mode is capable of up to 27 miles on one charge.   

Sitting at the very top of the range is the frankly monstrous Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, which is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 510hp. This allows it to get from 0-62mph in a staggering 3.8 seconds, challenging most sports cars today.
