An Audi Q5 Black Edition is a high-spec version of this popular family SUV that offers a lot of kit and quality for a comparably reasonable price.

Despite its sporty looks, it’s still available with Audi’s usual range of engines, so it shouldn’t cost more to run than any other Q5 model.

Used Q5 Black Edition models belong to the second-generation model, introduced in 2017, so any model you pick will look bang up to date.

What are the Audi Q5 Black Edition specs?

Engine choice is fairly straightforward when it comes to the Q5 Black Edition, but there’s one for everyone. For many buyers, diesel power makes sense in an SUV of this size, and the 204hp 2.0-litre 40 TDI is a great pick.

Those who do a lot of town driving may prefer to go for a petrol option – it’s the quicker 265hp 2.0-litre 45 TFSI.

There’s also a 299hp 2.0-litre petrol plug-in hybrid, which should be able to do around 40 miles on electric power alone between charges. If you can charge it regularly enough, you could spend a lot less on fuel.

A used Audi Q5 Black Edition will mostly come with cosmetic upgrades over the lower trim levels, such as a sporty bodykit and black detailing, including a blacked-out Audi logo on the grille.

It’ll also get a sportier suspension, LED headlights, large alloy wheels, all-around parking sensors, a reversing camera and cruise control.

Inside, there’s three-zone climate control, heated front seats, a digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system with plenty of connectivity options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Black Edition is currently the most expensive version of the Q5 you can get, though Audi did sell a very premium Vorsprung model for a short period.

Sitting beneath the Black Edition is the very popular and desirable S line trim, which is one above the entry-level Sport.

Some early second-generation models and previous cars were available with a lower-spec SE trim, but Audi got rid of this to give the car a more premium feel.
