Start nowMazda has had a go at most types of cars, including saloons, estates, convertibles, coupés, crossovers and SUVs, but hatchbacks have remained a constant for decades.
While many manufacturers are dropping their hatchback models, Mazda still sells this shape in two sizes – the compact supermini and the more practical family hatchback.
> Supermini
> Hatchback
A family favourite among driving enthusiasts is the Mazda 3, which has suave looks and punchy engines. It’s built to a very high standard and comes with a lot of standard and optional equipment, and you can even buy it in a more aerodynamic saloon shape.
Besides that, there’s the smaller Mazda 2. Petrol versions are built on Mazda’s own platform, but there’s also a hybrid model that shares many parts with the Toyota Yaris.

Yes, a used Mazda hatchback for sale will be just as practical as any other modern hatchback. On paper, boot space might be slightly down compared with rivals, but the difference is so minimal that you won’t notice this in reality.
There is a slight tradeoff in rear-seat space that you’ll have to put up with for a Mazda hatchback’s stylish sloping roofline, but how often are you likely to be carrying adults in the rear? And even if you are, they won’t be complaining.
Driving a Mazda hatchback for sale is unlike many other family hatches – there’s still a clear focus on comfort, but you’ll notice just how sporty one of these can feel to drive thanks to the accurate steering.
Mazda also does some clever trickery with its engines (which we won’t bore you with), but it means that you get a big engine (by today’s standards) that’s still very economical. The 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre petrol engines in the Mazda 3 are a great example.
A used Mazda hatchback for sale might not be the obvious choice, but that’s what makes them stand out.
You’ll want to consider one if you spend a lot of time alone in your car because enough is going on to keep you entertained on long trips, be it the driving dynamics, the high-tech interior or just the sheer comfort.
Mazda still sells a couple of hatchback models, but if you’re after more interior space and that all-important, wide-opening hatchback-style boot, consider one of its many crossovers and SUVs.
We think the Mazda 3 is arguably one of the best-looking hatchbacks out there, full stop. It has a lot more going for it besides its looks, though. Why not buy or finance a used Mazda 3 for sale?
The Mazda 2 Hybrid has Toyota’s 1.5-litre self-charging hybrid setup – it’s the same one you’ll see in the Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross.
Yes, Mazdas are known for their strong resale value, so when it comes to selling it on, you might be in a better position than some other cars.
