Start nowThe Jaguar F-PACE shares many of its mechanical parts with the XF executive saloon as well as the highly desirable Range Rover Velar, which means it’s a luxurious and stylish option for families after a practical SUV.
There’s only one version of the F-PACE, which is branded as a conventional SUV, but its sloping roofline and long bonnet give it an air of coupé about it. It really looks the part and still stands out several years after launching.
Popular Jaguar F-PACE trims
Core trim levels include S, SE and HSE, so it’s easy to understand which model is best. However, there are also sporty-looking variants, branded R-Dynamic and Black, as well as some special editions like the 400 Sport, named after its 400hp output.
> Jaguar F-PACE R-Dynamic S - luxurious entry-level model with heated windscreen, powered boot lid and heated steering wheel
> Jaguar F-PACE R-Dynamic SE Black - this mid-spec car has a fixed panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and more aggressive styling
> Jaguar F-PACE R-Dynamic HSE Black - top-spec car with softer leather, cooled and massage front seats, and more premium materials
Jaguar F-PACE history
Acknowledging the success that other manufacturers have had in the SUV market, Jaguar launched the F-PACE in 2016. Since then, the company has launched the E-PACE and I-PACE SUVs.
> First-generation Jaguar F-PACE (2016) - a new take on SUVs, offering a sporty driving experience and plenty of luxury
> Facelifted Jaguar F-PACE (2020) - fresh design with more simple interior, more standard equipment and more efficient MHEV and PHEV options
Exactly what you’ll get with a used Jaguar F-PACE depends on the model year – facelifted cars come with a lot more as standard, but they can cost more.
Entry-level post-facelift cars include dual-zone climate control, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a powered boot lid, adaptive cruise control, all-around parking sensors and a reversing camera.
Updated models are the ones to go for because they have a large 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s a considerable upgrade over the system that came on earlier F-PACE cars.
Jaguar Land Rover has had its fair share of reliability concerns – arguably Land Rover more so – but these have largely been ironed out over the years and a used Jaguar F-PACE should be no less reliable than any other luxury SUV.
A couple of early models came with rear-wheel drive, but most models are four-wheel-drive, which means they’re generally less efficient. Still, one of the 2.0-litre diesel cars should be able to exceed 40mpg on an average trip.
There’s a plug-in hybrid version, badged P400e, which uses a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor. Jaguar reckons it should be able to do around 30-40 miles between charges, which can help you cut the cost of local motoring.
A used Jaguar F-PACE for sale is an excellent choice for sports car enthusiasts who have grown up – this is a genuinely impressive family SUV that’s also engaging to drive.
You could also consider cars like the BMW X3 and X4, Mercedes GLC and GLC Coupé, or Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
The cost of a used Jaguar F-PACE on finance will depend on the model you choose and the type of finance you pick.

Currently, you can only buy mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid Jaguar F-PACE models, but Jaguar is going fully electric in 2025, so expect a fully electric model then, if not before.
The Jaguar F-PACE is four-wheel drive, so it’s great for off-road excursions.
While the Jaguar F-PACE only seats five people, there’s plenty of room for tall adults in the back and for families.
