What types of used CUPRA Terramar cars are there?

The CUPRA Terramar offers some seriously sharp styling, making it one of the best-looking SUVs out there. It’s bigger than the already popular Formentor, so makes sense for bigger families.

All versions are automatic, but you can choose from petrol or hybrid powertrains. High-end models even have 4Drive four-wheel drive to put all that power down – up to 272hp, in fact.

CUPRA Terramar history

The first-generation Terramar is still very early on in its story, because it only launched in late 2024.

> First-generation CUPRA Terramar (2024) – order books opened towards the end of 2024 for most Terramar configurations, while some others hit the road in early 2025

> CUPRA Terramar Tribe Edition (2026) – this special edition came as part of a minor update, and adds a unique matte paint and 3D-knitted bucket seat

What features does the CUPRA Terramar have?

Every Terramar has a large 12.9-inch touchscreen, which feels like a large, high-def tablet has been glued to the dash. It’s super responsive, easy to use, and includes wireless smartphone mirroring. There’s also a 10.25-inch display behind the wheel, too.

Other standard kit includes three-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control and keyless entry, so it’s very much a premium SUV.

Higher trims add 360-degree parking cameras, self-parking, a head-up display and fancy adaptive suspension for a sportier ride.

Is the CUPRA Terramar reliable?

Don’t be alarmed that the Terramar, or indeed CUPRA as a brand, are still pretty new.

It’s virtually a Volkswagen Tiguan under the metal. Its engines, gearboxes, suspension and more are already tried and tested by its German sister brand, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Euro NCAP also awarded it a full five-star safety rating in 2025, so you know it’s going to be safe for your family.

How much does the CUPRA Terramar cost to run?

It looks really sporty, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be costly to run. The plug-in hybrids offer some of the best performance, but because of the large 25.8kWh battery, you could do around 70 miles on electric power alone.

1.5-litre mild hybrids are also cheap to run – the 2.0-litre petrols look bad in comparison, rated to around 32mpg at worst, but that’s still very good for a large petrol engine.

Who is the CUPRA Terramar suitable for?

The Terramar suits families who want more SUV space than a CUPRA Formentor without losing the sporty styling and promising performance.

If you want space, consider the VW Tiguan, but if you want style and luxury, consider the Audi Q3. Both are mechanically related to the CUPRA Terramar.
