Sports seats, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and dual-zone climate control are common across the range, and higher trim levels add things like adaptive suspension, heated seats, leather trim, Matrix LED headlights and upgraded speakers.

Is the CUPRA Leon reliable?

Yes – the CUPRA Leon is built on the proven MQB platform that’s shared with models like the VW Golf, Audi A3 and ŠKODA Octavia, helping give it a strong reputation for reliability. 

The petrol engines are widely used throughout the Volkswagen Group across far more than just those three other cars, and the plug-in hybrid versions benefit from an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty. 

The Leon achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating in 2020 and in 2025 thanks to features like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keeping assistance and ISOFIX. 

How much does the CUPRA Leon cost to run?

Running costs depend on the engine you choose – the 2.0-litre TSI petrol model offers a good balance of performance while still returning around 35-40mpg in daily driving, but the 150hp 1.5-litre petrol might prove slightly cheaper to run. 

The e-HYBRID plug-in hybrid models can travel as far as around 70 miles for post-facelift models too, so most daily commutes could be covered without any petrol power at all. 

Servicing costs are broadly comparable with other VW Group cars, but remember that high-performance engines can cost more to insure.
