Start nowThe CUPRA Born is a bit of a style icon in the EV world.
Essentially what CUPRA has done is take the already handsome VW ID.3 and somehow make it even better, with sharper angles and a sportier look.
In other words, the ID.3 is like Perfect Peter and the Born is its mischievous brother Henry.

There are a range of trims, battery options and colours to choose from when picking your used CUPRA Born model, so you won’t be caught out or left wanting something more.
Popular CUPRA Born trims
You can get a used CUPA Born in a few different trims which are appropriately and easily named, so you won’t struggle to differentiate between them.
> CUPRA Born V1 – entry point with adaptive cruise control, heated leather steering wheel, rear-view parking camera, 12-inch infotainment system and 18-inch alloy wheels
> CUPRA Born V2 – adds larger 19-inch alloy wheels, a head-up display and heated front seats
> CUPRA Born V3 – top-spec trim with 20-inch alloy wheels and more premium seats
> CUPRA Born VZ – performance variant with uprated suspension, improved brakes, bucket seats and sharper, more aggressive styling
CUPRA Born history
The CUPRA Born is a relatively new model, so its history thus far is short. But what it’s achieved in its small lifespan is rather incredible.
> First-generation CUPRA Born (2021-2022) - Built on Volkswagen’s new electric platform, it added different styling and a Cupra twist
> Facelifted CUPRA Born (2024-present) - with more range and next-level power, this may be the one to have
The USP of a CUPRA Born is that it’s practical like many of its rivals but it’s even more fun on the road. And with this, comes some cool interior features and tech.
While it’s fundamentally the same as the ID.3 inside judging by the central screen, it does have some of its own CUPRA touches such as bronze accents around the cabin and a different centre console design.
While the standard infotainment system is solid, many users may just want to use Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as it’s familiar and works well.
In front of the driver is a small head-up display that shows important information such as your speed, remaining range etc.
Overall, we think the cabin is smarter than that of the ID.3, feeling more premium and high-tech.
Being an electric car, a CUPRA Born is less likely to face any problems when compared to a petrol or diesel internal combustion engine car.
This is because it has fewer moving parts that could, in theory, fail more easily.
New CUPRA Borns get a standard five-year/90,000-mile warranty, which can be passed on to subsequent owners, giving you added peace of mind.
Powering the CUPRA Born is a choice of two batteries: a 58kWh with 260 miles of range and a larger 77kWh battery with upwards of 340 miles of range.
It’s efficient, too with a promised 4.4 miles per kWh, putting it right near the top of economical EVs. Plus, it can charge at up to 135kW, giving you plenty of charge in no time.
A used CUPRA Born is the perfect small electric car for most people. It’s zippy around cities, great on a country road and competent on a longer motorway journey.
Whether you’re new to EVs or coming across from the VW ID.3, this is a worthy upgrade.
Rivals include its VW ID.3 twin, the MG4 and the Kia Niro EV.
In theory, it is a Volkswagen underneath but with a CUPRA twist in the way it looks and feels.
The Volkswagen Group is responsible for manufacturing the CUPRA Born.
In its sportiest spec, it has 230hp and a 0-62mph time of 5.6 seconds.
It's positioned above VW in terms of luxury but it’s still a step below the likes of Mercedes and BMW.
The entry-level car gets 260 miles of range, whereas the larger battery 77kWh model gets 340 miles on a single charge.
