What is the Audi A5 Sport?

An Audi A5 Sport is a great middle-ground for this premium coupé because it has more style and equipment than the basic models but can be almost as affordable when buying used.

It’s an incredibly versatile model with space for up to five, a good-sized boot, and a range of economical and powerful engine options.

Sport has been a staple in the A5 lineup since the car first launched, so you can pick from first-generation 2007-2017 models or second-generation 2017-onward cars.

What are the Audi A5 Sport specs?

If you’ve got your eye on a newer Audi A5 Sport, you can pick from the 35 TDI diesel or the 35 TFSI petrol. Both are 2.0-litre units, and they have 163hp and 150hp respectively.

When the second-generation model first hit the roads, there were also 150hp 1.4-litre and 190hp 2.0-litre petrol engines, plus 150hp and 190hp 2.0-litre diesels.

Although there have been some 3.0-litre V6 petrol and diesel options, they were only available on higher trim levels.

Used Audi A5 Sport features and equipment

Standard kit varies a lot, because Sport has been an option on the A5 since 2007, so it’s really important to check any individual A5 Sport for sale to make sure it has what you want.

As a guide, the latest A5 Sport cars come with LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, cruise control, keyless start, three-zone climate control and lots of standard safety kit.

They also come with a large digital instrument display and a touchscreen infotainment system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Where the A5 Sport sits in the Audi range

Originally, Sport was a mid-spec model, sitting above the entry-level SE and SE Technik trim levels.

Besides mid-spec Sport cars, there are also desirable S line variants and more aggressive-looking Black Edition cars.

When Audi facelifted the A5 in 2020, it also offered a limited-run Edition 1 car. Another worthwhile option is the very premium Vorsprung car.
