The A5 follows the typical Audi reputation for offering a wide range of choices - it shows up in hatchback, coupé and convertible stylings that each have exciting trims to pick from.   

We particularly like the A5 Sportback choices – they look most like a hatchback but get some stylish extra touches, and it comes in a choice of Sport, S Line, and Black Edition trim levels, with the latter being the top-spec.   

Each trim gets its own unique selection of features across the range and even the entry-level model is well equipped, but from the S Line upwards you’ll get the best of the equipment.   

It doesn’t matter which model you choose though, as each one is styled up in a way that’s glamorous and classy but still usable. They combine hard-wearing materials and manufacturing that’s made to last, with high-tech features and a stunning appearance.   

What features does the Audi A5 have?

Each A5 model gets a variety of features depending on the trim level that you choose.  

The line typically starts at the entry-level A5 Sport, with the S Line being the middle trim, and the Black Edition being the top of the range.   

Even the Sport model gets a whole load of features that will improve your driving experience, and there's the built-in MMI Navigation Plus system with MMI Touch and Audi Virtual Cockpit to keep you up to date with your car.  

Plus, you’ll enjoy cruise control with speed limiter, LED headlights and rear lights, and – everyone’s favourite – heated front seats.  

The A5 S Line model gets even more kit, including upgraded Audi Matrix LED headlights, additional S Line exterior styling, and privacy glass for a luxe feel.   

The top-of-the-range A5 Black Edition trim gets a moody black exterior styling pack, a flat-bottomed high multi-function sport steering wheel, and all the tech available in the other trim levels.   

There is also the option for smartphone mirroring with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Practicality-wise, the A5 gets a boot that ranges for 380-465 litres depending on the model you choose and options for four or five seats, so there’s plenty of space to pack in everything and everyone you need. 

What is the Audi A5 like to drive?

The A5 is a brilliant option for a safe and stylish everyday cruiser that will put a smile on your face, but it also ticks boxes across the board for performance.   

There’s a range of engines to choose from including petrol and diesel offerings, so it will really depend on the one you pick as to what statistics you’re likely to hit.   

The 45 TFSI petrol engine is the one to choose if you’d like some punch when it comes to power – it brings a claimed 0-62mph of 5.2 seconds, yet keeps the functional appeal that helps the A5 straddle the line between something really fun and something sensible and practical.  

We also like the sports suspension that you can grab with an S Line or Black Edition model, as it’ll help smooth out bumpy roads without feeling stiff, and the inner cabin is quiet.
