New Peugeot e-5008: a seven-seater EV with a 410-mile range

Could this be the UK's cheapest new all-electric seven-seater?

Peugeot has finally entered the seven-seater electric vehicle (EV) chat with the all-new e-5008, promising an impressive all-electric range and a competitive price tag.

It's effectively a stretched version of the already successful e-3008 and is almost identical in every way, other than its looks and how many people you can fit inside.

How big is the Peugeot e-5008?

This sizeable difference means there’s plenty of room inside for a third row of seats - perfect for excitable children or that annoying passenger you don't want in the passenger seat.

There’s also more boot space to play with. The previous 5008 model offered just 167 litres, but the new one bumps that up to a more respectable 259 litres.

However, fold the two rear seats and you can benefit from a massive 748 litres of available boot space, making those family trips away much more tolerable.

Peugeot e-5008's power options and range

The range starts with a 132hp mild-hybrid (MHEV) engine, which will be plenty for most people, with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant set to join in due course.

If you're after a fully electric model and are familiar with the e-3008's offerings, then you're in luck. Just like its smaller relative, the e-5008 is available with a 204hp single-motor with a 73kWh battery (312-mile range), a 98kWh battery (410-mile range) or a more powerful 310hp dual-motor (311-mile range).

How much does the Peugeot e-5008 cost?

Prices have not yet been announced for the new Peugeot 5008 but it'll be priced just above the 3008, meaning a starting price of around £50,000 for the fully electric version and £40,000 for the hybrid.

Or you could always wait until they reach the used car market to snag a great deal...
