The Suzuki Baleno is available in a few trim options, but even the most basic versions get things like Bluetooth, air-conditioning and all the safety essentials.

The Baleno SZ-T is your mid-range choice, and gets a bit more kit than the standard. You can expect extras likea reversing camera, built-in sat-nav, and a handy seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The range-topper is the Baleno SZ5 model. This one provides a safety kit upgrade, automatic climate control and adaptive cruise control.

The Suzuki Baleno is considered a reliable car, with Suzuki itself regarded as a very dependable manufacturer. What’s more, if something were to go wrong, parts are generally pretty cheap compared with other brands.

How much does the Suzuki Baleno cost to run?

Although the 1.2-litre petrol engine is good, we recommend looking for a model with the 1.0-litre ‘Boosterjet’ engine, which is turbocharged so feels punchier. Both return similar mpg figures. You can even find some Baleno models with a mild hybrid system, badged SHVS.

The Suzuki Baleno is bigger than the Swift, and feels much more spacious inside. You’ll get a 355-litre boot in the Baleno and 265 litres in the Swift, so that’s much more storage from the get-go.  

Both the Baleno and Swift are available with five-seats, but the legroom and overall space in the Baleno is definitely greater.
