Dacia’s supermini took the world by storm when it launched as essentially a budget version of Renault’s Clio – on which it's based – but with its own character and charm.

About the Dacia Sandero

When it first arrived on the scene in 2008, the Sandero became an instant hit for those wanting a budget-friendly supermini with the quality and reliability of its Renault older siblings.  

Some of its direct rivals include the MG3, Ford Fiesta and Skoda Fabia – and the Dacia undercuts each and every one of them by price. Brits clearly like them too, as they've sold more than 200,000 cars in the UK – with many more being snapped up by the day. 

The Sandero is available with either a petrol or diesel engine, ranging in size but all offer sufficient levels of power for the size and weight of the car.  

Is the Dacia Sandero reliable?

What are the Dacia Sandero features?

The Sandero is well equipped for a car of its price point. It has a very clean and simplistic dashboard layout, while top-spec models come with an eight-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a built-in sat-nav, a USB phone charger, parking sensors, and a rear-view parking camera. 

As for practicality, the Sandero has a decent-sized boot and offers plenty of passenger space, beating the Ford Fiesta in overall interior size. 

Boot capacity for the Sandero measures in at 328 litres, which increases to 1,108 litres when the rear seats are folded down.  

What's the Dacia Sandero like to drive?

When on the road, the Sandero feels much more at home than you might otherwise think. Despite coming with relatively small engine options compared to its rivals, the Sandero doesn’t feel like it is straining whatsoever.  

The smallest engine on offer is the turbocharged TCe 90, which is more than enough for everyday driving. There is also a 1.5-litre diesel engine available on slightly older models and some ever-so-slightly larger petrol engines including the TCe 100. 

All engine options can either be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic.
