What is the Volkswagen Touareg R-Line Plus?

A Volkswagen Touareg R-Line Plus is the highest trim level you can get for this already luxurious model, which means that even by today’s standards, this used model remains very desirable.

This car is powered by a large diesel engine, so it’s a great pick for anyone who needs to tow a heavy trailer or caravan.

What are the Volkswagen Touareg R-Line Plus specs?

There’s only one engine option, and it’s a powerful 3.0-litre V6 diesel. There are, however, two configurations – 204hp or 262hp.

They all come with an automatic gearbox that’s smooth and easy to drive, and four-wheel drive, which helps the car in slippery conditions and even with some mild off-roading.

Although they can both tow up to 3,500kg, the two engine configurations have different torque outputs of 450Nm and 580Nm.

The more powerful one will make lighter work of towing heavy loads, but the less powerful one might be more efficient under normal circumstances.

R-Line Plus models get upgraded 20- or 21-inch alloys, a 360-degree parking camera with cameras mounted on the front to give you a better view out at tricky junctions, and soft leather upholstery.

That’s on top of the kit you get in lower-spec R-Line cars, like a lower suspension setup, sporty exterior styling, xenon headlights and LED tail lights, keyless entry, an opening sunroof, and a powered boot lid.

All cars also get dual-zone climate control as standard and a fairly large touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity.

Where the Touareg R-Line Plus sits in the Volkswagen range

The R-Line Plus relates to second-generation models, sold between 2010 and 2018, which had different trim level names to the latest model.

R-Line Plus was the most expensive version, adding more kit to the already desirable R-Line car.

There are also entry-level SE variants, but they’re hardly short on kit and make an excellent purchase in their own right.
