What is the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line?
A used Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is the best of both worlds when it comes to a sporty look that drives efficiency.
All the R-Line package adds is essentially a body kit on top of a well-specced VW Tiguan that still has an efficient engine, which means you can look the part without paying the price.
The Tiguan R-Line trim was first introduced in 2010 and has remained a staple in the range ever since.

What are the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line specs?
Despite having the 'racing R' in its name, a Tiguan R-Line for sale doesn't benefit from the top-spec car's sporty engine and instead can be had with either a 1.5-litre TSI petrol or a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. These are far more efficient, offering a claimed 43.5mpg and 50.4mpg respectively.
When it comes to driving, a used Tiguan R-Line is very similar to the standard car, offering a smooth overall driving experience thanks to its DSG gearbox and plenty of driver assistance technologies.
The ride is supple too, but it should be noted it has larger wheels, which means there's less tyre making contact with the road, possibly resulting in a harder-feeling ride.

Being the top model, the Tiguan R-Line gets every feature thrown at it. From heated and massage seats and interior ambient lighting to Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and an electric tailgate, there's every reason to consider one for your family.
Aside from this, the R-Line also benefits from sporty and more aggressive-looking front and rear bumpers and an upgraded air intake with chrome trim.
Where the Tiguan R-Line sits in the Volkswagen range
The Tiguan R-Line is the top-spec model in the range, sitting above the Tiguan, Life and Elegance models.
If you want performance, however, you'll need to upgrade to the full-fat 'R' that produces 311hp and 420Nm of torque.
Its main rivals in the mid-sized SUV space include the KIA Sportage, Nissan Qashqai and Mazda CX-5.
