What is the Volkswagen Polo GTI?

The Volkswagen Polo ‘GTI’ badge stands for ‘Grand Touring Injection’ and is applied to all of Volkswagen’s performance models that sit under the top-spec ‘R’ variants. 

Because the Polo is a smaller and cheaper car than the Golf, the Polo GTI is the top model and so is very popular among enthusiasts.

What are the Volkswagen Polo GTI specs?

The VW Polo GTI is powered by the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine found in the Golf GTI but with fewer horses at 200hp and 320Nm of torque. 

This means that when it comes to driving, the Polo GTI is a treat. It has a great chassis and offers sharp steering and a punchy throttle response. 

Despite this, it’s economical, with a claimed fuel economy rating of 41.5mpg.
