There are two Mercedes EQS models to pick from – an executive saloon designed to be an electric counterpart to the S-Class, and a large and luxurious SUV with up to seven seats.

First came the Mercedes EQS in 2021, then the plush EQS SUV followed in 2022. Both arrived within months of other EQ models.

What features does the Mercedes EQS have?

Every version of the EQS gets luxuries like insulated privacy glass and soft-closing doors, as well as heating and adjustment for the front and rear seats, wireless phone charging and active parking assist with a 360-degree camera.

The best part about the interior is the huge MBUX Hyperscreen system, which puts a pair of 12.3-inch displays in front of each front seat occupant. They flank an even bigger 17.7-inch central display, which results in a seriously impressive 141-centimetre-wide curved setup.

Both the Saloon and the SUV also get a heat pump as standard, which helps improve electric range in the cold winter months, but whereas the standard EQS supports 11kW AC charging speeds, the EQS SUV’s bigger battery is compatible with up to 22kW.

Is the Mercedes EQS reliable?

Being a flagship model range for Mercedes, the EQS family is known for its high engineering standards and strong build quality. Early owner reviews praise the EQS for its blend of luxury, comfort and performance.

All electric cars feature fewer moving parts than petrol models, which means there’s less to go wrong. The EQS gets an impressive 10-year/155,000-mile warranty for the battery on top of the existing car coverage.

How much does the Mercedes EQS cost to run?

Like the S-Class, you can expect recurring costs like insurance and tyres to be pricey for the EQS, but the lower fuel costs do help soften the blow.

They come with enormous 96kWh or 118kWh batteries, but even with the cheapest off-peak rates (7.5p/kWh), they’ll only cost up to £9 to brim. Range varies from 339 to 481 miles for the EQS, and 351-401 miles for the EQS SUV.
