Start nowThe Sorento is a family SUV that sneaks under many people’s radars, just like the Hyundai Santa Fe. In fact, it’s often a better choice than its more ‘premium’ rivals.
Kia has been in the large SUV market for decades with the Sorento, and with seven seats plus great styling and affordability, what’s not to like?
It’s the tried-and-tested Kia manufacturing that is a favourite of many motorists and makes the Sorento even more tempting – you know you’re getting a quality model.
Its main rivals are the Skoda Kodiaq, SEAT Tarraco, Peugeot 5008 and Land Rover Discovery.

In terms of engines, the Sorento is available with both hybrid, petrol and diesel units – both of which are offered with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox.
Inside, the Sorento is very clean and has one of the most functional interiors in its class, offering two large displays, the right amount of buttons (which are becoming a dying breed, sadly), and vast amounts of excellent standard onboard tech.
Popular Kia Sorento trims
There aren’t many versions to pick from when it comes to a used Kia Sorento because it’s only available in Kia’s highest trim levels that are loaded with kit.
> Kia Sorento 3 - Popular mid-spec 3 trim with dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and reversing camera
> Kia Sorento 4 - High-spec 4 model with all-round parking sensors, heads-up display and heated and cooled seats
> Kia Sorento Vision - Newer entry-level model with lots of equipment, including a large touchscreen and heated front and rear seats
Kia Sorento history
There have been four versions of the Kia Sorento, but early models were slightly smaller and didn’t come with seven seats.
> Third-generation Kia Sorento (2014) - High-quality interior, powerful diesel engine and choice of seven seats
> Facelifted Kia Sorento (2019) - Minor styling tweaks and revisions to standard equipment
> Fourth-generation Kia Sorento (2020) - Completely redesigned with lots of in-car tech and hybrid options
> Facelifted Kia Sorento (2023) - Another minor revision with changes to specifications and trim levels
To continue the Sorento’s sleek exterior design, Kia has made sure the interior looks just as suave with the addition of two large displays and interesting shapes.
Higher-spec Kia Sorento cars for sale get the swanky 10.25-inch central touchscreen, which looks sharp and clean and is easy to use.
It also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity in case you don’t fancy using Kia’s own infotainment system, which is easy to use and responsive.
There’s also a plethora of USB chargers dotted throughout the front and rear, so both you and your passengers will always have juice in their devices.
Speaking of passengers, they shouldn’t need to worry about comfort because there's plenty of headroom and legroom available in the middle row of seating. There's still a decent amount of space for third-row passengers, and adults should be fairly happy here on short trips.
You can see the full range of features in each model by taking a look at our current used Kia Sorento listings.

Higher-specification used Kia Sorentos will sit in fairly expensive insurance groups, but they’re still cheaper than many premium SUVs to insure.
Every Kia Sorento for sale is considered a large SUV, so if you need space for up to seven or lots of luggage or pets, then it’s one of the most spacious premium SUVs that’s actually comparably affordable.
