What features does the Honda Civic have?

The entry-level Civic is a great option if you’re after something simple and laid-back, but you can boost this by moving to a mid-range model like the Civic SR.  

The latest SR models get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus parking sensors.  

Other models get leather seats, sat-nav, a rear-view parking camera and a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration.

Is the Honda Civic reliable?

Both new and used Honda Civics have always been reliable cars to live with on a daily basis. In fact, it’s not uncommon for some to reach a million miles on the odometer.   

This is down to its solid engine options and tried-and-tested parts, but it’s safe too, with the most recent model scoring a full five stars in its most recent Euro NCAP safety test in 2022. 

This is thanks to safety features such as its strong build quality, automatic emergency braking (AEB), rear ISOFIX child seat mounting points and lane assist system.  

How much does the Honda Civic cost to run?

Thanks to Honda’s reputation for building high-quality engines, the Civic is fun to drive while also being cheap to run.    

There are two petrol engines on offer and one diesel engine. You can opt for a six-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed with the petrol-powered Civic, while the diesel is only available as a manual.   

The 1.0-litre petrol engine is perfect for pottering around town, while the more powerful 1.5-litre petrol is much better on the motorway and for longer journeys.    

The 1.5-litre version is very nippy, with a 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds and will do an average of 44mpg. So, you get a strong performing, yet efficient engine – it’s a win, win! 

Who is the Honda Civic suitable for?

There are very few people a used Honda Civic isn’t good for because it’s affordable to buy and run, is fitted with fuel-efficient engines, and makes family life a doddle.  

It closely rivals the Peugeot 308, Kia Ceed and Vauxhall Astra but stands its ground for a solid hatchback experience.
