What is the Ford Kuga ST-Line?

A Ford Kuga ST-Line is a high-spec variant of Ford’s popular family SUV, with a stylish exterior and a high-quality interior inspired by the brand’s performance models.

With styling borrowed from the Fiesta, Focus and Puma ST models, the Kuga ST-Line has the allure of a performance model but the attraction of much more affordable running costs.

There have been ST-Line variants of the Kuga since around 2016, so you can pick from at least two generations of Kuga ST-Line.

What are the Ford Kuga ST-Line specs?

Most buyers tend to opt for the more affordable 150hp 1.5-litre petrol or 120hp 1.5-litre diesel models. They deliver their power to the front wheels, so they’re reasonably efficient.

If you need a car capable of towing a trailer or caravan, then you can also pick the less common 2.0-litre diesel – it has 190hp and four-wheel drive.

There’s also a pair of hybrids available – a 190hp hybrid and a 225hp plug-in hybrid.

Both use a 2.5-litre petrol engine and a CVT automatic gearbox, which is well suited to a more sedate and eco-friendly driving manner.

Because the Kuga ST-Line has been around for so many years, there are lots of different examples to pick from, and equipment levels vary.

As a guide, newer Kuga ST-Line Edition models come with bright LED headlights, a powered boot lid, all-round parking sensors with a reversing camera, keyless entry, a digital driver’s display, and a large touchscreen infotainment system capable of running Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Even previous-generation models come with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, and some models will even come equipped with self-parking.

Where the Kuga ST-Line sits in the Ford range

There have been a lot of Kuga variants over the years, but because it’s one of the brand’s biggest models, all trim levels are generally pretty good.

Entry-level Zetec models are generally less popular than affordable high-spec Titanium and Titanium X variants.

ST-Line (Edition) and ST-Line X (Edition) are the highest-spec models, with the exception of a few special editions like the Black Package Edition, Graphite Tech Edition, and ST-Line (X) First Edition. The most luxurious are Vignale models.
