What is the Ford Focus ST-Line X Edition?

Some of Ford’s quickest cars wear the ST badge, including the impressive Focus ST, but they can be expensive to buy and they’re not all that cheap to run.

That’s where the company’s ST-Line-branded products come in – they combine the benefits of a sportier style with Ford’s more efficient engine choices.

A Focus ST-Line X Edition is a high-spec variant of this sporty-looking car, but if you can’t find one you like, it’s virtually the same as a Focus ST-Line X (without the ‘Edition’).

What are the Ford Focus ST-Line X Edition specs?

Engine choice is excellent, and many buyers will choose a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. It’s punchy, quiet, and very efficient.

There are 125hp and 155hp variants in the case of the ST-Line X Edition, and the more powerful version gets mild hybrid tech to help limit emissions and cut your motoring bill.

There are also two diesel engines to cater to long-distance drivers – the 120hp 1.5-litre and 150hp 2.0-litre engines can be very economical on a motorway trip.

A used Ford Focus ST-Line X Edition comes with a sporty bodykit, including red brake callipers and eye-catching alloy wheel designs, plus bright LED headlights.

Inside, you get faux-leather seats, including a power-adjustable driver’s seat, plus heating for the front seats and steering wheel.

Other kit includes dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument display, keyless entry and start, cruise control, and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Where the Focus ST-Line X Edition sits in the Ford range

Ford has changed its trim levels a few times over the years, but the same logic applies regardless of model year. Some entry-level variants include Style, Trend, and Zetec (Edition).

From there, you can choose premium-feeling Titanium (Edition) and Titanium X (Edition) cars, sporty-looking ST-Line (Edition) and ST-Line X (Edition) cars, or rugged-looking Active (Edition) and Active X (Edition) models. They’re all similarly equipped but have their own stylistic flairs.

Besides the performance ST model, which has been available in ST-1, ST-2 and ST-3 trims over the years, there have also been some posh Vignale specifications.
