What is the Ford Focus Active X?

A Ford Focus Active X sits slightly higher off the ground than regular versions of the Focus, giving it a crossover look while keeping the benefits of a hatchback, such as more affordable running costs and a more manageable size.

Active variants, including the Focus Active X, went on sale when the latest model was introduced in 2018, so you won’t feel out of place in even the oldest model.

You can pick from earlier cars or go for a facelifted model, built from 2022, but whichever you end up going for, any Ford Focus Active X for sale is guaranteed to come with a kit list as long as your arm.

What are the Ford Focus Active X specs?

You’ll get to pick from Ford’s excellent catalogue of engines with a used Focus Active X, including the popular 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine.

It comes in 125hp and 155hp flavours, and in the case of newer models, mild hybrid technology to keep running costs at a minimum. There’s also a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 150hp.

As well as the 120hp 1.5-litre diesel you get in regular versions of the Active, the high-spec Active X also gets a 150hp 2.0-litre diesel. Both are very efficient on long trips.

Used Ford Focus Active X features and equipment

You won’t be disappointed with the quality of your used Focus Active X even if you go for the oldest and cheapest one you can find, because you’ll still get a lot of gear.

Things like a panoramic sunroof, parking sensors, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, front heated seats and part-leather upholstery are all included. Post-facelift cars (built after 2022) come with a heated steering wheel, an upgraded B&O sound system and a digital instrument cluster.

Both come with an excellent touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but newer ones have a larger 13.2-inch screen compared with the eight-inch unit in older models. Both are very responsive and easy to use.

Where the Focus Active X sits in the Ford range

Active X is a very well-equipped and premium-feeling version of the slightly cheaper Active model, but there are also top-notch Active Vignale cars, too.

Sitting at a similar level in terms of price and equipment are comfortable Titanium, Titanium X and Titanium Vignale cars, as well as the sporty ST-Line, ST-Line X and ST-Line Vignale editions.

Entry-level models include Style and Zetec, which both come with everything you’d need in a car of this size.
