What is the BMW X3 M Sport?

M Sport variants sit at the top of the X3 lineup, so you’ll benefit from the highest levels of equipment and safety kit.

Because BMW X3 M Sport models are inspired by the performance X3 M, they also look the part and have a sporty bodykit and large, eye-catching alloys.

M Sport has been a staple in BMW’s range for many years, and the X3 M Sport combines style with practicality and affordability.

What are the BMW X3 M Sport specs?

There are plenty of efficient and powerful engine options available for the X3 M Sport, including a 2.0-litre petrol with 184hp (20i) and a 2.0-litre diesel with 190hp (20d).

X3 M Sport models are also available with a more powerful 286hp 3.0-litre diesel engine, and there are some sporty M40d and M40i variants, too, but they don’t belong to the M Sport trim level.

Finally, a 2.0-litre petrol plug-in hybrid with 292hp is available. It uses the 20i’s petrol engine with an electric motor and a battery capable of running around 30 miles between charges.

Used BMW X3 M Sport features and equipment

All X3 models are well-equipped because they’re generally only sold in high trim levels, and the M Sport represents the top of the range.

Newer X3 M Sport models come with all-around parking sensors, an automatic boot lid, three-zone climate control, and cruise control.

Being a BMW, there are plenty of optional extras, like a heated steering wheel and even laser headlights that promise to improve visibility without blinding oncoming traffic.

Where the X3 M Sport sits in the BMW range

Because it’s considered a premium family SUV, the X3 is only available in high trim levels, with M Sport being at the top.

Beneath it is the equally well-equipped xLine, but there have also previously been SE and Sport options available.

The only models above M Sport are performance M40i, M40d and X3 M variants, which are quick but can be expensive to run.
