What is the BMW X2 M Sport?

M Sport is the name given to BMW’s highest trim level, so the X2 M Sport’s design is inspired by BMW’s performance M models.

Despite its sporty appearance, a used BMW X2 M Sport is available with a range of efficient engines, including some that have been lifted straight out of the popular and economical 1 Series hatchback.

Because it’s such a popular trim level, there should be a BMW X2 M Sport for sale that matches almost every type of buyer.

What are the BMW X2 M Sport specs?

The smallest engine you’ll find in a used BMW X2 M Sport is a 136hp 1.5-litre petrol, badged 18i. This is also the only option you’ll find that isn’t available with four-wheel drive.

There are three 2.0-litre options, too, including the 192hp 20i, the 150hp 18d, and the 190hp 20d. You can get 4x4 models, but the front-wheel-drive versions should be cheaper to run if you don’t need the off-road ability.

If you like the sound of cheap running costs, a 220hp plug-in hybrid, badged 25e, is also available. It should do around 30 miles on electric power alone.

New 2023-onward models come with a 170hp petrol engine, badged 20i, or a 306hp electric variant in the case of the iX2.

Used BMW X2 M Sport features and equipment

High-spec M Sport models come with an eye-catching part-Alcantara interior, which gives the X2 a seriously luxurious feel for a relatively affordable price.

Depending on the model year, some X2 M Sport models for sale also come with parking sensors, a powered boot lid, cruise control and heated seats.

A few different optional extras have also been available over the years, adding things like keyless entry and a heads-up display.

Where the X2 M Sport sits in the BMW range

BMW X2 M Sport models sit slightly below the M Sport X, which comes with more equipment and a more rugged look.

There have also been Sport and entry-level SE models, but BMW has stopped selling these, so if you’re looking at new X2 cars for sale then you’ll be looking at high-spec models only.

A performance M35i model was also made available, which uses the same 306hp 2.0-litre engine as the BMW M135i.
