What is the BMW 4 Series M Sport?

BMW’s M cars are some of the fastest and most engaging sports cars around, and the M4 is a popular choice of mid-size coupé.

A used BMW 4 Series M Sport comes with all of the style of the fast-paced M4 but without the high running costs.

M Sport has been an option on the 4 Series since it was launched, so there should be no shortage of BMW 4 Series M Sport for sale.

What are the BMW 4 Series M Sport specs?

Because the 4 Series M Sport shares a lot of parts with the 3 Series saloon, you’ll find the usual array of punchy yet efficient engines. However, the 4 Series only gets some of the more powerful options.

Two popular engines include the 184hp 420i petrol and the 190hp 420d diesel, but the slightly more powerful 248hp 430i promises the performance of a larger engine but the efficiency of a 2.0-litre one.

There are some 3.0-litre engines, too, including the 322hp 440i, 255hp 430d, and 308hp 435d. They’re quick, but you could see as much as 40mpg from the large diesels on a long trip.

Used BMW 4 Series M Sport features and equipment

A used 4 Series M Sport is about as high as you can get in terms of trim levels, so you’ll get plenty of equipment and an eye-catching design.

Depending on the model year, a 4 Series M Sport will come with things like parking sensors, a reversing camera, cruise control, heated seats and sat-nav.

Automatic models also come with paddle shifters, which make the driving experience more fun.

Where the 4 Series M Sport sits in the BMW range

Being a higher-end option compared with the 3 Series saloon on which it’s based, the 4 Series is only available in BMW’s higher trim levels.

Beneath M Sport is the Sport level, but there are no SE models as you’d expect with some other BMW cars.

Besides the performance M4, newer cars come with M440i and M440d options, which sit between M Sport and the M4 in terms of performance and kit.
