What is the BMW 1 Series M135i?

The BMW 1 Series M135i is the sporty choice for a well-rounded sporty hatchback that benefits from proper German engineering and is great fun to drive.

This trim was first launched in 2012 on the second generation (F20) 1 Series and provided buyers with a more aggressive-looking hatchback with proper sports car-like credentials from BMW's 'M' Division.

With various configurations on the table, BMW certainly didn't (and still doesn't) hold back with the M135i.

What are the BMW 1 Series M135i specs?

Being one of the performance variants, the 1 Series M135i packs a serious punch in the engine department.

Sitting under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 306hp and 450Nm of torque.

This, partnered with weighted steering, makes for one of the best driving experiences for the price. It's also fairly economical for what it is, with a claimed 37.2mpg.

Used BMW 1 Series M135i features and equipment

Hot BMWs always get the most impressive tech, and the M135i is no exception.

It comes with features such as 18-inch alloy wheels and a smattering of exclusive 'M' Performance features including a rear spoiler, sports seats, larger brakes and sports suspension.

Inside, newer models get a large 10.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and plenty of 'M' badges to remind you that you're in something special.

Where the 1 Series M135i sits in the BMW range

The M135i sits at the top of the model range along with the 128ti and M140i. This is above other models such as the SE, Sport and M Sport.

Hot hatches are a hard market to crack into but the M135i does have some tough competition, including the Audi S3, Mercedes-AMG A35 and Volkswagen Golf R.
