What is the Audi Q5 Sport?

Sport is an Audi trim level designed to reflect a mid-spec model, so it brings together great levels of standard equipment with a slightly more sporty style.

It’s such a popular model that this is now the lowest trim level you can get in a new Q5, which means that every model comes with plenty of bells and whistles.

This trim level was introduced with the second-generation model in 2017, which means that any used Audi Q5 Sport you get should look bang up to date.

What are the Audi Q5 Sport specs?

Because Sport relates to the second-generation model, all engines are 2.0-litre units, so if you want a more powerful 3.0-litre version, you’ll need to consider other trim levels that were available on older first-generation cars.

Earlier 2.0 TDI diesels had 190hp, but an update saw the engine renamed to 40 TDI, giving these a power upgrade to 204hp. Older 2.0 TFSI petrols had 252hp, but when they were updated to the 45 TFSI, they got a slight reduction to 245hp.

There’s also an excellent 299hp plug-in hybrid, badged 50 TFSI e, which should be able to do nearly 40 miles just with the battery, helping to reduce running costs considerably depending on your journey types.

Used Audi Q5 Sport features and equipment

While there’s only been one generation of the Audi Q5 Sport to date, the car has had several upgrades and a mid-life facelift, so kit can vary and it’s important to check any individual listing.

As a guide, newer models come with LED headlights, heated seats, three-zone climate control, a powered boot lid, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and cruise control.

They also get a dual-display setup comprising a digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Where the Q5 Sport sits in the Audi range

When the second-generation Q5 was launched in 2017, Sport was a mid-spec model, sitting above the entry-level SE car. Audi no longer sells SE cars, though.

The desirable S line trim sits one step above Sport, and in the case of newer cars, a top-spec Black Edition car adds even more style.

For a period, very posh Vorsprung variants were available, plus a limited-run Edition 1 car that’s packed with kit.
