Keeping with the luxurious feeling, the Vorsprung models only came with the Q3’s most powerful engines.

The most popular are the 150hp units – you have the choice of a 1.5-litre petrol (badged 35 TFSI) or a 2.0-litre diesel (35 TDI). They only came with a smooth-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

There’s also a 2.0-litre petrol for those who want a bit more performance, with either 190hp (40 TFSI) or 230hp (45 TFSI). The final option is a 245hp 1.4-litre plug-in hybrid, badged 45 TFSI e, which should be able to do more than 30 miles on electric power between charges.

Audi Q3 Vorsprung models come with matrix LED headlights that adapt to prevent blinding oncoming traffic, as well as parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.

They also get an upgraded Bang & Olufsen sound system, interior ambient lighting, heated seats, a panoramic sunroof and lots of Alcantara trim.

Q3 Vorsprung upgrades also include a 360-degree parking camera, a self-parking system and keyless entry. In fact, the car is so well equipped that apart from some styling changes, there aren’t really any optional extras to add as you’d get on lower trim levels.

Where the Q3 Vorsprung sits in the Audi range

An Audi Q3 Vorsprung is the most expensive, premium version of this quality crossover you can buy, and while the current top-spec Black Edition looks similar, it’s not as plush.

The most popular model is generally the S line trim because it comes with that desirable sporty bodykit and plenty of equipment, but at a more reasonable price.

Sport is a well-equipped mid-spec trim, but some older models came with lower-spec Technik variants (and an entry-level SE trim for previous-generation cars).
