What is the Audi A6 Black Edition?

Black Edition models are some of the highest-spec Audi cars you can get, and they come fully loaded with standard equipment.

They take styling inspired by S line, S6 and RS6 models, but add a touch of black styling for a more aggressive look.

Though it’s still an option on new cars, Audi has been selling these models for more than a decade, so you’ll have no problem finding a reasonably priced used Audi A6 Black Edition.

What are the Audi A6 Black Edition specs?

Go for the latest-generation model and you’ll see a selection of 2.0-litre engines, including a 204hp diesel engine, badged 40 TDI, that lends itself well to long-distance driving.

There are also two 2.0-litre petrols, badged 40 TFSI and 45 TFSI. They come with 204hp and 265hp but are generally less efficient than the diesel option.

You can also get a very quick 299hp 2.0-litre petrol plug-in hybrid, badged 50 TFSI e, which should be able to do around 40 miles on electric power alone.

Used Audi A6 Black Edition features and equipment

Black Edition is primarily a cosmetic upgrade over lower trim levels, so a used A6 Black Edition will come with a sportier body kit with eye-catching alloy wheel designs and black detailing, including a blacked-out Audi badge on the grille.

You also get lower suspension, matrix LED headlights, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and keyless start.

Inside, there are heated front seats, four-zone climate control, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a second screen on the centre console for climate controls, and a third screen behind the wheel.

Where the A6 Black Edition sits in the Audi range

The Audi A6 Black Edition is currently the highest trim level you can get, and it sits above the very popular S line variant.

Sport is the current entry-level option, but if you’re looking at older models, there were lower-spec SE trims available.

For a short period, Audi sold a range-topping Vorsprung edition. Besides these, you may want to consider one of the performance models, such as the S6, which used to have a petrol engine but now comes with more efficient diesel power.
