Whittling down the best Lexus hybrid is hard, not because there are lots of options, but because all the options are really good.

Ranging from saloons to SUVs, each with superb fuel efficiency and comfort.

Lexus UX

The Lexus UX is one of the brand’s smallest SUVs, bringing hybrid power and sporty styling to an otherwise very tame car.

Officially, the UX returns a (claimed) 56.4mpg with the standard car and slightly less at 50.4mpg for the E-Four variant.

In a real-world scenario, you can expect to see around 50mpg, so it sticks to its claim rather closely.

Lexus NX Hybrid

Lexus’ NX Hybrid is a proper full-size SUV with loads of space, tech and comfortable seats.

For its size, it gets an efficient engine too, comprising a 2.5-litre four-cylinder unit mated to two electric motors to help it achieve a claimed 49mpg.

Plus, with its head-turning looks and sporty roofline, it certainly stands out from its Audi Q5 rival.

Lexus RX

The Lexus RX is Japan’s answer to the BMW X5 – a premium large SUV with a dominant stance and a nice interior, including real wood on upper-spec trims.

In terms of efficiency, you want to go for the plug-in hybrid RX 450h+, which returns a claimed 235mpg (when leaning on electric power) and an all-electric range of 40 miles.

But there’s also the self-charging 350h, which should get more than 40mpg in most driving scenarios.

Lexus ES front

Lexus ES

The only saloon on this list is the Lexus ES – a popular car with taxi drivers and businesspeople covering big motorway miles and scooting around town.

Power comes from Lexus’ 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which has a claimed efficiency of 48mpg with the ES300h.

Despite having tough rivals like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class, the ES stands its ground in all areas.

Lexus LBX

The Lexus LBX is the smallest SUV the Japanese brand makes, which puts it up against premium models like the Mercedes GLA and BMW X1.

Unlike the bigger Lexus models, the LBX is powered by a smaller 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a hybrid unit that offers a claimed 65.7mpg.

This makes it one of the most efficient Lexus hybrid SUVs you can buy.
