There are 60hp, 75hp and 80hp 1.0-litre petrol engines, but we think stepping up to the turbocharged 95hp 1.0-litre unit is a better pick because it’s more capable of handling motorway trips.

Other picks include a 90hp 1.2-litre petrol and a 75hp 1.4-litre diesel, which can get very good mpg figures.
