What is the Volkswagen Polo Life?

The Life is a relatively new trim level for Volkswagen, and it was introduced on the Polo in late 2021, so even the oldest model will still have a fresh 71 plate.

The trim level changes came at the same time as a general facelift and overhaul of the Polo, so while the sixth generation may have been introduced in 2017, this version looks a lot smarter.

Standard kit across the range is excellent, and Life models come with a lot more than entry-level versions did previously, so unless you need all the mod cons, this is the one to go for.

What are the Volkswagen Polo Life specs?

Volkswagen used to sell a wider range of engines for the Polo, but most people ended up going for just the one very good unit, so the Polo Life for sale only comes with a single engine option.

It’s a 1.0-litre petrol engine that produces 80hp, however, you can also have it turbocharged, which means you have a more usable 95hp.

The more powerful option is also available with a smooth-shifting DSG automatic gearbox, which is a joy to drive.

Every Volkswagen Polo Life for sale is bang up to date, with plenty of modern car tech like bright LED headlights and parking sensors.

Other equipment includes air-conditioning, cruise control, automatic lights and wipers, plenty of safety kit and lots of soft-touch materials inside, including leather in places you touch frequently, like the handbrake and steering wheel.

You also get two screens – a digital instrument cluster and a slick touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Where the Polo Life sits in the Volkswagen range

The Life is an entry-level model, but as we’ve already explained, it’s more comparable to mid-spec trim levels from older generations.

When the car launched, you could also pick the mid-spec Style trim or the sporty looking R-Line, which also came with a slightly more powerful 110hp 1.0-litre petrol option.

Later on, Volkswagen introduced a good-value Match edition between Life and Style.
